I’m the one who spots the connection nobody else did. Hand me something messy and I’ll enjoy taking it apart — working out what is actually wrong is the fun part, not the chore before the fun part.
I’m competitive and I’d rather say so than pretend otherwise. I want to be the best at what I do. The flip side is that watching someone else get unstuck lands about as well as shipping something myself, which is most of the reason this site exists.
I think in patterns and I plan a long way out. I like arranging people and work so the whole thing moves faster than the parts would on their own.
PHILOSOPHY
Good architecture makes complex systems feel simple, not the other way around.
A few habits fall out of that. Understand the problem before building anything. Treat the cause and not the symptom, because special cases only ever compound. And say out loud which compromises you took, so the next person can see the trade.
